I signed up for this workshop because I was preparing for a presentation at a conference and needed a little boost. I attended two of John's workshops a couple of years ago and this was a great refresher. Since I don't do a tremendous amount of public speaking to large groups, I always get nervous and often defer too much to my notes, even though I know I shouldn't. Whenever I felt nervous during the presentation, I would pick someone out of the crowd, as he recommended, and it helped calm me down. I do fairly well in smaller groups and this helped me feel like I was speaking to a smaller audience. Also, I practiced while being active. Some of his tricks actually work! Thanks for a great course! My nerves and my audience thanks you.Read Less

Prior to taking this course, the three areas I always stumbled on were: - trying to "act like a presenter" whatever that means - trying to organize my content in a concise and digestible way - controlling the room - rather, feeling like I even have permission to control the room John Plank is an engaging and charming speaker, so unlike many online courses, I wasn't tempted to zone out, I didn't need to repeat sections. His empathy for the audience shines through. Even though it's a recording, it still felt personal. Now I know that being myself is more important than an act, I know how to organize my content (and quickly) and I know that I am the host and that I must control the room, I feel like my next presentation is going to be infinitely better. I'm almost looking forward to it. Thank you!Read Less
